This is my 12th year teaching Upper School science at Unquowa and my 23rd year teaching.  Science in upper school is separated into three disciplines:   Grade 6 earth science, grade 7 life science and grade 8 physical science.

I am a 7th grade advisor and an advisor for our 8th grade service learning project with Giant Steps, a school for autistic children.  I enjoy working with the Lower School in our student leader-peer learner projects.  Grade 7 works with the kindergarten in the spring to do some planting at Patty Popp's farm in Easton.  They also work with 1st grade studying life in an estuary environment at Southport Beach.  Grade 6 works with 2nd grade on a composting project.

We are taking a close look at Long Island Sound this year with 2 field experiences on the Maritime Aquarium's research vessel, Oceanic.  Recently the 8th grade, through the generosity of Dr. William Haseltine, toured CYTEC Labs.  Students had the chance to see "real scientists" in action.

I'm a native Bostonian and a Very Happy Red Sox fan these days, but I'm old enough to know that heartbreak could be just a season away.
